When it's cold outside,
I've got the month of May.
Well, I guess you'll say
What can make me feel this way?
The bees envy me.
I've got a sweeter song
than the birds in the trees."

This has without a doubt been one of the most amazing experiences I've ever had. I still can't believe it... not only was I priviliged enough to be able to play with the church choir at the SYDNEY OPERA HOUSE for the catechizes but most of all, I was lucky enough to be able to live through all the magic of this World Youth Day experience. I'll be frank, I'm not a religious person. I believe in God but... well, look that's a complicated topic... I won't go into that right now, and anyway it's not important, cos truth be told to me it wasn't really about that. It is true that this entire convention was a celebration of these young people's love for God (and that WAS amazing) but to me the best thing was just the enthusiasm, atmosphere and energy that was everywhere around! I spent almost every day t the city this week and it was just so great to see the city FILLED with people from ALL OVER THE FREAKING WORLD! Tons and tons of them, walking around, singing, dancing, with all their flags (SO many flags! Everywhere!), chanting for their country! It was SO great! Never before had I seen anything like that and I may never see it again! That's why I'm so grateful! Playing at the Opera House was awesome! I still CAN't believe it! And with my friends most of all! :D We had a couple of GREAT days together and yeah! I could NOT be more grateful <3 (Thank YOU... <3 :) ;)).
This past weekend we celebrated Tita's bday! We went to have dinner at this pizza restaurant... place in the city, lol (that was yummy) and then... we went KARAOKEEE! What a great idea that was! We'd never done that before and it was just SOOOO much fun! There were many of us, we had a whole room just for us and well it was just brilliant! We didn't do any solos, cos we were ALL singing all of the songs! Hahahaha it was really really great! :D We sang a lot of 80s songs! I never really knew how much I liked them! I really loved it and I hope we can do it again soon! :D Here are the pics of the night ;)
Like if He's all-powerful, and all-knowing, yet all-good, how can atrocities and disasters happen? If He can't anticipate them, He isn't all-knowing. If He can't stop them, He isn't all-powerful. And if he CAN anticipate them and CAN stop them, but allows bad things to happen, He can't be all-good! Right?
I see this thread as introducing another logic trap. It leads to questions such as "Why should we be sent to hell if everything we do is pre-planned and decided? If there's nothing we can do about our sins and crimes, how can we be held accountable for them?"
The fact that God knows everything that's going to happen would not be enough to absolve us from responsibility for our actions. Even the fact that He's all-powerful doesn't absolve us. It would ALSO have to be true that God is an interventionist and MAKES everything happen. But it is entirely possible that God exercised His power by creating the systems in which natural laws operate, including human nature, the "forces of nature", gravity, and everything else that "makes things happen" in our world.
And you still can't trip God up by saying "Well, why did He create a system of natural laws where bad things can happen? Doesn't that mean He isn't all-good anyway?" It is possible to argue that the laws of nature have to be seen as value-neutral because we don't know if their ultimate working-out leads to good or to evil.
So much that we describe as "good" or "evil" is a function of human perception. If we weren't inclined to decide, for example, that animals have rights, who would decide that cats are bad for eating birds, lions are bad for eating zebras, Inuits are bad for killing baby seals, hunters are bad for killing elephants etc. etc? Who would decide that protecting the fetus is good, that opposing birth-control in poor countries is good, that democracy itself is good? All these judgments are part of a human value system set up WITHIN the natural laws that God created.
Another point that has to be borne in mind is that the concepts of goodness and evil would not survive in isolation from each other. We can only decide what we think is "right" in a context where there is also something which is "wrong". It could be argued that God could have created a kind of vanilla-flavored world where everything just "happened" and there was no right or wrong. But that would REALLY have been to create a moral vacuum in which we would have had no idea how to behave and would neither have had responsibility for our actions nor even a sense of what "responsibility" meant!
Finally....if we believe in God, and use our brains, we have to
recognise that God's knowledge, power and goodness are applied to a
whole universe of causes and effects that have to be kept in balance by
the operation of natural laws and forces. It does not follow that God
makes every single little thing in our lives happen without our having
any freedom to make our own choices and decisions."

And THIS is why I worship this woman! :) She's just something else... :)
(This is a post she made in a thread where there was a debate about free will, fate and predestination. I just thought it was BRILLIANT so I just really wanted to share it here :). Mind you… NOT to try to put forward any kind of religious belief but simply because it’s an amazing perception, amazingly put forward… by an amazing person :). )
